Vet-XML

 

The Vet-XML Consortium is an industry body founded and chaired by SPVS that is defining electronic communication standards to make it easier for the veterinary profession to communicate and exchange data.

This collaborative approach is already reaping real benefits. For instance, one of the first applications is electronic insurance claims, where communication standards:

- Reduces errors
- Frees up time
- Improves cashflow
- Reduces settlement time.

Other services already in use include:

 
  • Electronic Laboratory result transfer and test request
  • Electronic Microchip registration
  • Financial Benchmarking

The enabling technologies behind these benefits are a common data format (VetXML),  a common communications protocol [http://www.vetxml.org/StandardCommunicationProtocol.aspx], and Vet Envoy a standard communication Platform [http://www.vetenvoy.com/uk/]
