Senior Vice President - Iain Richards BVSc CertVA MRCVS
 
Qualified from Liverpool in 1988 and spent the next seven years in mixed practice in Yorkshire, Cumbria and Derbyshire.   After attending a SPVS seminar on “The Next Move”, he purchased a five vet mixed practice in Kendal in 1996. This was followed by the acquisition of a neighbouring practice in 1999. The practice has since expanded to a two centre, eleven vet practice; of which Iain is a co-director. He was President of the Lakeland Veterinary Association in 1999 and has served as its BVA rep since then. He was elected to SPVS Council in 2001 and served as PRO from 2003-2006. President 2009-10.

  Qualified from Bristol in ’97, one year in mixed practice in Bedfordshire, six years at Rossdale and Partners in Newmarket, during which I spent one year in South Africa, before returning to take my Certificate in Stud medicine (giving me a Cert EM(Stud Med) in addition to my BVSc).  Three more years in equine practice before joining Companion Care, as Operations manager, in March 2007. Ian Anderson BVM&S MRCVS
Qualified from Edinburgh in 1986 and worked in mixed practice ever since. Following 6 years in Oxfordshire and then Hertfordshire moved to Laurencekirk, Aberdeenshire in 1992 and has been a partner since 1993. The practice is now an 8 vet (6FT, 2PT) mixed practice based at a tier 3 veterinary hospital in Laurencekirk with another 4 surgeries in North Angus and South Aberdeenshire. Ian has particular clinical interests in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine and ophthalmology. He is involved in practice management and his interests include marketing and mentoring younger graduates. Ian has been involved with the North of Scotland Division of BVA for over ten years and has served on the council in a number of capacities including programme secretary for several years and president in 2003/4. Qualified from Bristol in 1980. Varied career, encompassing periods in mixed practice, specialist equine and even lab animal work, before settling into small animal practice in Carlisle. Dave Rowlands BVSc CertEM(StudMed) MRCVS
I graduated from Liverpool University in 1997. After a year and a half in mixed practice in south Wales I followed my true vocation which is equine practice. I worked for 2 years in a busy equine practice in County Cork, Ireland before going to New Zealand suposedly for a 6 month locum for a stud season but I stayed for 2 and a half years! I returned to the UK in 2003 to work at Rossdale and Partners, Newmarket where my duties were mainly stud work and sport horse medicine. In 2005 I joined Penbode Veterinary Group, a 26 vet mixed practice covering Devon and Cornwall to establish a new equine department (Penhale Equine Clinic). In 2008 I became a partner. We now have 3 full time equine vets within the practice.
My non professional interests include: skiing, triathlon and cooking.

Catriona Curtis BVM&S MRCVS
Graduated from the Royal (Dick) Veterinary College in 2004.  For two and a half years she worked in a rural mixed practice in the south Lake District.  She then worked in New Zealand for a few months before returning to the UK and locuming as a small animal vet.  Since April 2008 she has worked as a small animal vet in a large progressive mixed practice near Carlisle. She has an active interest in medicine and critical care.  She is about to start her Cert AVP.   In 2007 she was the Lakeland representative on BVA council.  Elected to council in May 2009. email: catriona.curtis@spvs.org.uk
 
Nick Stuart BVM&S MRCVS
Qualified in 1981 from Edinburgh. Worked at Rowe Veterinary Group, as sole vet to a large pig and dairy enterprise, at Terry Heard’s pig practice and set up a business carrying out embryo transfer in pedigree sheep before buying a mixed practice in Gloucestershire in 1989. In 1992 he merged with a neighbouring practice to form Vale Vets which grew to a 33 vet practice and Vale Referrals was launched in 1994. Vale Vets sold the Bristol practice in 2005, split with Bushy Equine in 2009 and now have 2 centres, the veterinary hospital in Dursley and a thriving referral practice in Portishead.  Elected to Council 2009. Email: nick.stuart@spvs.org.uk

Stephanie Writer-Davies BVSc MRCVS
I qualified from Bristol in 1984 and spent 4 years in mixed practice before deciding to concentrate on small animal work.  After 11 years as an assistant in the London area, with no prospect of partnership I decided to start my own practice and opened Mimram Veterinary Centre, Welwyn, Hertfordshire in 1999.  This has grown to a successful a 3-vet practice and I am sole owner and partner. Elected to SPVS Council in 2010.
My outside interests include skiing, walking/rambling and rugby.
